The Glass GauntletThe Glass Gauntlet
by Carter Roy
My rating: ★★★★★

(I received this copy free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review)

There is always a fear when going into a the second book of a series, you never quite know if it will be better then the first, fall short, or be horrible. This book was not in those three, this book surpassed all my expectations by miles. Not only that, but I had this wonder read in less then three hours.

Review Update! The Blood Guard

The Blood Guard (The Blood Guard, #1)The Blood Guard

Wow.
I've been looking for a book to fill the hole left behind by finishing the Percy Jackson series, and boy oh boy did I find it. Full of action, nail biting adventure and witty banter, I couldn't put this down once I started.

The opening captured me, who wouldn't want to continue when the opening sentence is "It wasn't me who burned down our house". We're tossed right into, dare I say, fire, and the constant suspense doesn't let up until the last word it read.

Review Update! Rememberers

RememberersRememberers
By C. Edward Baldwin
My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

( I received this book free from the Author in exchange for my honest review )

2.5 Stars

This book started out good, it peaked my interest and the mystery was alluring, but it fell hard. The writing was repetitive and to be honest noting of important happens until the last 30% of the book, and it just kind of, happens.

I felt that I was being told the story instead of getting absorb into it. I had to keep putting the book down because I was just not feeling it. The world building was, factual and two dimensional. It was like reading an assessment report, no pop, no ump.

Review Update! Casting Magic

I loved this short.

Fast pace and full of heart pounding action I couldn't put this read down even though the hour was getting late and I had to get up early for work. (Oh work how you spoil and shorten my reading time.)

There is a ah ha moment in this book, if you've read all the Grazi Kelly novels then you know that Angela is Grazi's BF, and in the third book goes MIA. In this short the mystery is solve and are told why Angela goes off the map and, why Grazi can't get a hold of her. Makes me happy to know that Angela didn't ditch.

Review Update! A Mickey Mouse Reader

This was quite the interesting read.

I was never one to read non-fiction books, they are for me, at times, boring. This could also extend form my dislike of such books from school. 10 years later and it's effects have yet to full wear off. (I have some not so G-rated words for you high-school)

Toronto library to roll out book-lending machine at Union Station

RHEAL DOUCETTE, OTTAWA PUBLIC LIBRARY
When Ottawa’s library system installed its first two book-vending kiosks in 2010, they were touted as Canada's first.

"The Toronto Public Library hopes to roll out a book-lending
machine at Union Station by the end of the year. If it’s
successful, more could be on their way."

This looks like a good idea. I would love to have
this in any transit station, across Canada, or just on the side of the street.

New Guest Reviewer!!

Meet Jill, my best friend and guest reviewer. She's agreed to help me out with my growing read to review list; as I'm no longer working a desk job and have less time in the day to read and get reviews out. Jill is going to help lighten the work load.

But have no worries, I will also review the books, but due to time constraints, they'll be much later than hers.

Jill is an avid reader like I am, and has reviewed on Goodreads and was a guest reviewer for Ethereal Book Reviews. Here's a little about her.

"I'm 30yrs old and an avid reader. While reading is one of my (not so secret) pleasures, I also enjoy music, hiking, singing and the smell of the open water."

Lets give her a warm welcome in the comments below. >.<

Books for Boobies 2015 Anthology

An anthology of today's hottest indie authors to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Books for Boobies is a collaborative group of Authors, bloggers and readers united to help raise funds and awareness towards breast cancer charities, such as the National Breast Cancer Foundation, that provides free and low cost mammograms to women in need. Last year, we held our first ever online event and raised nearly $1000 that was donated to that charity. This year we will be hosting an online event in October, but we also have an anthology that will be published for the month of October 2015 only. This collection is a sizzling hot compilation of 30 of todays HOTTEST authors, with each having their own short story of new material from some of their most beloved characters. This collection is only for those 18 years or older due to mature and sexual content. This Kickstarter campaign is to cover costs of promotional items for the anthology.

Review Update! Alone In The Dark

Alone in the Dark: The Lillim Callina ChroniclesAlone in the Dark: The Lillim Callina Chronicles
By J.A. Cipriano
My rating: ★★★★★

A quick short, and prequel to Kill it With Magic, we are taken into Lillim Callina past, and a look into the cruel training her mother put her through.

I love this short, and in truth I wish it was longer. I was drawn in, captured and didn't want the story to stop. It's an amazing thing, to entrap someone into an extremely short story, so fast, so smoothly, that they don't even know that it was a short at all.

Review Update! Kill it With Magic

Kill it with Magic (The Lillim Callina Chronicles, #1)Kill it with Magic

I loved this book

It was fast pace, action packed, and fun; but there was just enough moments, to get the girl feels going.

Lillian is quite the character. She's head strong, and that annoyed me at times, but she is by far one of my favourite female leads of the year. She's strong, determined, and she was not the damsel. There was love interests, but at the same time, they were more deeper then the normal boy meets girl, and falls head over heals. There was preexisting history, and that made the connections more emotional, and believable.
