Fantasy Utopian Romance
“Neglected
Merge” is an inspirational thought-provoking futuristic fantasy
romance novel. The story of fated lovers developed against a backdrop
of a new post-apocalyptic world painted in bright tones. A fortuitous
meeting of Tauria, an independent woman living in one utopian-style
world, and Doron from high society of the other world, is destined to
be the new beginning for both worlds.
Tauria,
aged 32, lives in the society that seems to believe that happiness is
a universal concept. People, who had survived the near apocalyptic
experience, have built a whole new world full of pleasure and
easiness. It is designed to make everyone feel happy every minute of
their lives. Work brings satisfaction, hobbies are encouraged,
relationships are supposed to bring out only positive emotions. Does
it matter that things that don’t fit into the general happy pattern
get discarded and disappear? Things like friendship and commitment.
Things like true love. It is supposed to be enough with lightness and
never-ending joy.
But
there are two worlds now. They are forced to exist side by side. Can
they find a way to live together?
The
Chinese proverb says: “When the winds of change blow, some people
build walls and others build windmills.” What will the people of
two worlds, so utterly different and at the same time so similar,
choose?
(I received this book free in exchange for my honest review)
I have some mixed feelings about this book. It has an odd pacing that threw me off, and at times had me confused. The opening was in your face, bam! Love interest meet with a literal crash landing. Things moved quite fast after that, but at the same tie I felt there was a weird disconnect that I couldn't quite place, or it could have been a love confession after two days of interacting. I'm in a odd place where I don't know if I liked it or not.
The pace. after that interacting, slowed down quiet a but. Though the book time line it's self sped up. This again made for a weird style pacing that threw me, but at the same time kept me reading. This book itself is odd, in a good way. There are a lot of similarities to this world we live in, especially when it comes to romantic interactions, and the notion to drop things that doesn't bring us joy anymore. Ghosting is a socially accepted, friends can easily be replaced, and no one wants to know your unhappy personal life. Keep it to yourself, wear a mask, and pretend to be happy with the everyday flow.
Honestly, everything about the world-building had me fascinated, both worlds actually. So different but oddly the same. It does get you thinking, and it starts to make you question how close we are to the mundane-people pleasing world our MC lives in.
Overall this book is worth your time to read, it's intriguing and has a uniqueness to it that will keep your eyes gulled to the pages. I can't wait to see what else is to come, as this book it set up for a series, and I want more.
Happy Reading

“I just don’t want to have useless hopes. It hurts.”
It sounded pathetic, and it was exactly what made her feel that life in their perfect new world was empty and void of colour, but she was born and raised with these beliefs and it was not a one year’s – and three days with a Winged One – task to change her completely.
“I know. I understand. But life full of love and emotions inevitably hurts. I’m telling you this with the whole authority with a soon-to-be certified historian. Others in my course see it as a disadvantage, which was successfully eliminated after the Merge. They think that it’s wiser to live our lives like a straight line without fluctuations. And they’re satisfied that the mankind that had survived had done everything to make life a straight line. We don’t have poverty, we don’t have crime, if only occasional, insignificant, we don’t have to fight for our land and even for love. Mankind has learned its lessons. But human nature is more complicated than we imagine. And the fact that after the Merge we found that we are not alone in our world is the best proof for that.”
Tauria listened to his declaration and admired the depth of thought and the simplicity of complicated things put into words. She felt exactly the same way and she knew that he was right. Could it ease all her fears? No, it couldn’t. But it eased her panic and stopped the denial that she had started to feel about her whole plan to see Doron again.
“There is no other explanation available for us now than this one: Doron was doing everything that was in his power to get back to you. Legitimately, this time. And the fact that he is the king’s son only makes this theory more trustworthy. He actually has such power. Which means, Tauria, and don’t start again with your melodrama, that he is more capable to find a way for you two to be together than if he was a Winged One carpenter.”
“You know that in case something goes wrong I’ll be crying on your shoulder, Byrne, don’t you? For the rest of our miserable melodrama free lives.”
“Oh, my good old Tauria and her lost sense of humour are back. Now I can leave you to your reading task for tomorrow without any worries for your sanity.”
“Thank you, you’re a real friend. I promise, I won’t jump out of the window.”
“Please, make sure of it.”
“I will, now, go.”
Byrne left, and Tauria was quite ready to dive into the most fascinating part of the history of mankind.
