International Authors' Day Blog Hop - 2016 - Giveaway!

Happy International Author's Day!

First lets start with a little bit about how I starting to love reading. I didn't always loved books, I actually hated reading when I was a child.

It wasn't until grade 10 that I started to get more into books. My best-friend at the time recommend that I read this book he was all gun-ho about. I was, (still am), into anime. He said if I like anime then I would love this book The Wayfarer Redemption. It took me three months to read it; but I'm so glad I did! Since then, I haven't stopped.

Who inspired me? Well my mom was always a reader, and I use to get mad when she read, because there was no getting her attention. My dad, also a reader, but I can't remember actually seeing him read, I just remember seeing the books after the fact. But the person that I thank for getting me into reading, is David. That first book started it all.

I have many favourite authors and books, but the ones that really stick out in my mind? Well, again that list is quite long. So how do I to pick? Well I think the easiest was is to go with the first book that pops into my head.

The winner is? The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Stiefvater

I recently finished this book, it's part of a series and the last one. I read the first book years ago back in  2012. I was browsing looking for something knew when, Raven Boys caught my eyes.  I fall in love with that book and with the series. It's different, unique and the growing love between two of the main characters was thrilling to watch. For one Blue, one of the mains, is cursed, that if she kisses her true love, that person will die. So to see her fall in love and not being able to kiss him, was interesting. There was so many intimate moments that weren't what you would normally call so. This book was the perfect finish, it's chalk full of feels, revelations, grieving and a another growing relationship that you wouldn't have guessed. When I put this book down I was grinning, but sad as there is no more, but the ending had me feeling like these characters will make it. That there's no need to expand on that complete happiness.

I highly recommend this series!

Now as for my reading habits. Will, I can read anywhere, and I mean anywhere. I can tune everything out and go into my own little world. I've had whole conversations with people while reading, and not remember a single thing that was said afterwards. So yeah, don't talk to me when I'm reading. :p.

I don't care if there is noise or not, but as a habit I do like some back ground noise. As  person, I can't stand being in complete silence. I need noise or I feel like something is wrong. Call it years sailing, but that's just how I am.

I think my worst habit, when I get to a overly emotional or dermic part in a book, I have to close it, take a breath, go over the parts I just read before I can go on.

In all, I love reading, I love books, I love Authors that spend they lives creating wonderful worlds for us to get lost in. Thank you Authors, storytellers, you've made my life, my days full of werewolves, vampires, dragons, hidden kings, other realms, gods, demigods, and magic!

Here's to you!

  1. It's way too difficult to name one favorite book, but I have been revisiting my first book love, Peter and Wendy. It's the one that started it all. Thanks for participating.
