Blackwell Trailer:
“We all saw different spirits,” Emily surmised. “How is that possible?”
Katie rose from Jacob’s side. “We each saw the person we wanted to see. The person we felt most connected to on the other side.” She came around the table to Magnus, grinning like a proud peacock. “Do you still doubt my abilities?”
“No.” Magnus blew out a long breath. “I think we should not do this again, though. I got the impression what happened tonight may be only the beginning.”
“The beginning of what?” Emily pestered.
Magnus straightened his coat as he turned for the door. “Something very dangerous.”

Topic: What was the most fun part about writing this series?
There have been many enjoyable moments with the Magnus Blackwell Series. Highlighting my
hometown and the mystery and legends surrounding it has given me countless hours of fascinating
research. Delving into the darkest depths of voodoo, learning the traditions, spells, and gods have
provided me with more storylines than I ever thought possible. But in the end, the most fun I ever had
during the months spent on this series comes down to one character—Magnus Blackwell.

during the months spent on this series comes down to one character—Magnus Blackwell.
He has been a pure delight because he encompasses so many facets of human emotion—both the bad
and the good. His evolution from man to ghost to spirit guide has given me the chance to expand a
character into realms not usually encountered by most authors, namely the otherworldly. His attitude,
his Victorian sense of self-importance, and his humor have remained with me even after I finish another
book in the series. And every time I reopen the page on his story, and Lexie Arden’s, I am intrigued by
where he will take me. He is so complicated, so colorful, and so badass, I swear he writes the scenes
because he seems so real.

Unlike characters dependent on a specific period to define their responses, their dialogue, and their
nature, Magnus is not anchored in one moment, but many. Reaching back to his Victorian roots, he is
also grounded in the present and his appraisal of modern times and people offers a refreshing take on the
story. Not being limited to a mortal form also allows me to put him in places other characters can’t go.
He is not limited but limitless in his scope, which makes him all the more alluring to write.

But in the end, it’s his dry wit and humor I love most. If Magnus Blackwell ever popped in for a visit, I
feel I could predict his every reaction, and every mischievous grin. Only once in a blue moon is a writer
afforded the opportunity to create such an all-encompassing character. Magnus Blackwell has been the
best part of this series for me. He is just too damn fun to ever let go!
