Echoes Series

Magic Calls (Echoes #1)Magic Calls
by Miriam Greystone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Magic Calls (Echoes Book #1) by Miriam Greystone was an original take on a rarely used paranormal group.

First off I need to tell you how much I am in love with the cover, I normally don't comment, but this time I just need to give props to the cover artist.

Now as for the overall story, I was captured right from the start. I loved the split POV and how they happened right as it was getting good; it was like mini cliffhangers throughout. It really got your blood pumping and kept your attention. The plot was interesting, and I loved the new take on old folklore.

Though I wasn't sold at first on Molly being the OPC (Overpowered Character), there are instincts and then there are just, I don't know, stuff to move the plot. This happens at the start, and in truth, it made me wary of Molly's and Jake's relationship. Not saying they didn't grow on me, but until almost the end, I wasn't pleased with their setup.

I actually got more attached to Bea than anyone else in this magical story. She was spunky, resourceful, and new she was on her own. As the story when on, I loved the friendship she had with Evie and all the raw emotions that went along with it. For me, I felt that Bea stole the show, and had the most character growth.

In all, I very much enjoyed this one-of-a-kind story. The writing will draw you in, the descriptions will make you feel like you are right there in the action. The ending will have you wanting, crying for more, as it does end in a cliffy. So take my high recommendation that you will be enchanted by this rare diamond in the rough.

Happy Reading

Magic Cries (Echoes #2)Magic Cries
by Miriam Greystone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Magic Cries (Echoes #2) by Miriam Greystone brings all the things I loved from the first book, and more.

Picking up where that cliffhanger left off, we are tossed back into Molly's new crazy world. I have to say, this book really did a good job at making me forget what I didn't like about the first. The plot has a steadier flow, the transitions were cleaner and at times seamless.

Keeping with the style of the first, we are giving different POVs. This writing style really gets you into the story and lets you experience different elements that are going on in the background, that may have been missed otherwise with a single narrative. Miriam Greystone does an excellent job at keeping all the different voices separated, nothing was confusing and I was excited to see what clues I could find in the other POV's.

As this is the second book, I'm going to stray away from telling you anything that happens, as this will spoil the first book, which is a must-read. This book is part of a series and you need to read the first book to understand this one.

This book is giving me chills and I could not put it down. I had this read in one sitting and now I am itching to read the next. Then endings keep getting better and better, even if they are bad on my heart.

Take my high recommendation that you need to get your hands on this series.

Happy Reading
