This quick, page flipping book had me at hello.
This is the type of book I've been waiting for; it had that perfect mix of enemies to lovers without the typical alpha male troupe that sometimes play on the edge of DA. The king is simply that, a king who takes no BS, but isn't unreasonable when it comes to the truth. Though he maybe brutal in his methods, but for me, he's just acting out what we, in this world, can not do when someones betrays us. (Cause you know, it being being illegal and all.)

I liked the dual POV; interchanging between the King and Queen. It added the layer needed to show us the kinds intentions, and he's motives. It also showed us that he wasn't too proud to be conscious of the queen when entering her domain. Even at her weakest, he still showed her the respect her crown demanded.

As for our cold queen, I liked her. Liked her even more when she got her revenge. She wasn't the typical MC who's power was nerfed the minuted the male love interested showed up. No, her weakness and ill health was due to something more sinister then troupes and cliches. Though I had some suspicions, I was still a little shocked at the end, but proud of my curl queen for showing no mercy. (Honestly I'm a little tried of the anticlimactic troupe 'I'm not like you' and 'taking the high rode'... just causes more problems in the end.)

This is where I leave you, as I don't want to spoil the book.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will get captured by the gem of a book. The fast pace and dark undertones of two these powerhouse merciless royal will have you glued to the pages.
