April Showers Bring May Flowers by Renee Grace Thompson is by far one of my most favourite reads of the year. This sweet, sassy romance, was everything I needed to get me out of my brewing, on coming winter mood. (It's so freaking cold out.. and I have a cold to make matters worst) This book took what would have been a miserable sick day, and turned it into a joyful, heart warming, experience that made me almost forget how stuffy my nose is.
Lucy is amzaballs! I loved her upfrontness and how she spat out all her feels without thinking about it. She was real, honest and badass! I'm 5 foot nothing as well, and was feeling the short girl problems, and I totally felt her on the nopes for creepy crawlies. What I loved the most, was how she was so relatable. From her struggle with grief, to her job, to her looks.
I find with most romances that it's the norm to have two hot, perfect god like creatures to fall head over heels up on feet meeting. Sure that's okay, but when it's the same thing over and over, well I find with anything overused, it gets boring and annoying. Having your MC's down to earth, normal, flawed and human, is what makes a good book. This read did that, and more. I had the best time reading about Lucy and Cade. Their development was natural, it actually took time for them to developed feelings then, try to figure them out. For me I felt that their connecting was solid right form the get-go.
God I can probably go on and on about how much I live this book, how much I feel like it was a romance done right. At about 70%, I stopped reading and gifted this book to my best-friend, then messaged her that she had to read this. In truth I had this book read in a manner of about 3 hours. Its been a long time since I've found a book that's captured me so.
Okay I'll stop rambling on. So take my super high recommendation that you need to read this book! It's everything you ever wanted in a romance and more (I want Betty to be my friend.. no I want to be Betty when I'm old and grey) You'll only know if you read this marvelous one-of-a-kind read, that will pull at all the heart string, have you grinning form ear to ear, and have you laughing out loud.
Happy Reading
