By: Frost Kay
My rating: ★★★★☆
( I received this book free in exchange for my honest review )
This book has rekindled my love for medieval fantasy. Mostly because I'm a fan of all things modern, like running water. That and they treated woman like shit, so, I'm not drawn to those types of books, mostly because I get pissed off. But Frost has giving me a kick ass female lead, that I would work with any day.
Sage (that's the name of my girl cat, she's a feisty one as well) she's a tom-boy, plain and simple, though naive, I'm not sure I like how she jumped into being a rebel so fast. I get that they're city has down the drank, but in my option she jumped in to fast without all the facts. I'm never on the rebel's side, not until sold proof has been presented. She has a big mouth on her, she isn't afraid to die for her cause, and she's a awkward fool. I've grown quite attacked to her.
But, my god, the book had me on my nose. It would be going one way then dam, nope not what you thought. The pacing was okay, though did slow about 60% in, not by much, but it was a nice breather before the hell storm that was to follow. My heart, I need to stop reading books that rip it out. I'm not going to survive this year.
And that ending!!!! !!!!
I can't even..., if I start I'll be here all day and I might start screaming. My soul, my poor, poor soul.
I highly recommend this book. It will have you hooked from start to finish, then have you reaching for more. It's a sold debut novel that shows, no, it promises us, that things will only get more epic from here.
Happy Reading
