( I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. )

I got to say, I'm disappointed in this read. It has so many good reviews, and the cover is beautiful, but I wasn't feeling it.

The beginning was good. Right away you get a sense of Valentine, she's strong, caring, and knows what she wants in life. I come from a small Island, so I know what it's like to leave, knowing that you'll never be back, outside of visits. But as the story moves forwards, and we get more into Valentine's life, the writing becomes hard to read; child like almost. I got angry at one point and had to stop reading, because I felt like I was reading mindless filler.

I was done, when the staff went to the Easter party. The cliché sexy dance, hurt me, it really hurt me. The way Valentine was first introduced, and the hight morals she is present to have, makes the whole scene, look like she was a teenager out for the first time, it doesn't fit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing sexy dancing, it was just the way it was placed, and basically thrown in there. The person that Valentine is described to be, makes it forced, and like I said, it doesn't fit. Not only that, it's bad, the writing for that scene was bad.

"In this song, we had planned to lean forward and pull a guy up onto our stage, up close and give him a special sexy dance. So, we did, and the crowd went mad. Melanie on one side and me on the other of a very happy guy I had never seen before. I wiggled myself against him, my back against his front, and Melanie did the same- her back against his back, then we turned and faced him, arms and legs playing in a naughty but not sleezy way. "

There's just something about that whole scene that irks me. I actually rolled my eyes after reading it. There's just so much immaturity about it, and I felt that it took away from Valentin, bringing her down almost. Maybe I just feel that the scene could have been written better.

I do feel like I got duped. The synopsis is catchy, and it gives the feeling that this book is going to be a goofy romance. It states they no-one can pronounce her name right. I didn't see that, and I was expecting her to be shouting at people that her name isn't Valentine it's Valen-teen . It's not even written like that in the book, it's written as Valentine.

As for drama, what drama? A misunderstanding isn't drama, not when it's resolved in three pages.

I'm frustrated, because I was excited about this book, really excited. I was hoping for a good, cheesy, goofy, romance comedy. Good feels, fully feels. But all I got was, below stander writing, a boring plot full of clichés, and two mary-sue's. Can a guy be a mary-sue? Is there different name? You know what I mean.

All in all, though I didn't like this book, and am disappointed about it, I do recommend it. This could be someone's cup of tea. As I said, many others do like this book, it just wasn't for me.

Happy reading

-Emily
