The Ethical Coach Leader: Developing Honor and Integrity
By: Dwight Johnson
My rating: ★★★★☆
I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.
Dwight Johnson writes an ethical leadership book that can be followed by everyone. He takes a beloved story (A Christmas Carol) and turns it into a learning experience for all. It doesn’t matter if you’re taking a leadership program through work or school. Or maybe you’re experiencing an ethical debacle that you can’t wrap your mind around. This book will help guide you. ‘Coach’ is recommended to read the thirteen virtues that Ben Franklin wrote about in his autobiography.
I believe The Ethical Coach leader would be one ‘Dr. Thorpe’ would recommend in the future. Well researched, wonderfully referenced and written in such a way that you feel you’re reading a story. Johnson has done a wonderful job with this quick but deep read. It will have you reflecting on your life and the ethical practices you’ve lived by.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this book. It’s not my usual go to. I certainly didn’t expect that the moment I put the book down I was recommending it to my colleagues. And I truly feel this is a book that should be used as teacher’s aids in ethical courses. I also believe that anyone who is looking to take on more of a leadership role within their workplace or community should take the time to read this book.
It is well worth it and you will forever remember the Ghost of Experience, the Ghost of Education, the Ghost of Examples, the Ghost of Environment, and the Ghost of E-information.
Happy Reading
