Welcome to Monsterland, the scariest place on earth.
When world markets are decimated by a crippling plague, philanthropist, and billionaire businessman, Vincent Konrad decides to place monsters in a theme park setting to promote education and tolerance. Copper Valley is chosen as the primary site for the park in the United States.
Wyatt Baldwin, a high school senior is dying to go to the opening and when he lands special passes to the park, he and his friends are expecting the experience of a lifetime.

After all, in a theme park where real zombies, werewolves, and vampires are the main attractions, what could possibly go wrong?

My Rating: ★★☆
My Recommendation: High

Oh boy, I say this because I'm a bit of a fraidy-cat when it comes to horror, though I love it, I'm not to fond of having to sleep with the lights on after a good scary movie or book. Monsterland was that perfect mix of old school thrill/jump scare; mixed with some modern day smi-post-apocalyptic flare, that will have your heart racing and your blood freezing. I will tell you that I did get a few tingles and the sudden urge to check under my bed once I had finished this one of a kind book.

I loved the fast pace, the not knowing and the of course all the blood and gore. I don't know what it is, but I love me a good terrifying monster style take down. And this reminded me so much of the 80-90's slasher movies, move over Jason, there's a new batch of blood thirsty psychopaths taking out teens.

I will tell you that this book is written in third person, and it does switch back a forth between a few characters, personally I love POV switches. It gives you a deeper insight to the whole story, different angles, and I love knowing something before the MC's. But if you're not use to this style, it may seem confusing. So this is a heads up that every chapter is something new, a new voice and a new perspective.

Speaking of voice, the why that this book is written was dark, well, for me, I could feel the darkness and doom through the tone and flow. It ups the creep factor and sucks you in. This book is all your favourite things about horror, you will not be able to put this book down. Take my high recommendation that you'll have you sleep with the lights on, and the doors locked.

Happy Reading
