Good day and thank you for letting me interview you today.
Let's start with how are you, and do you have any big plans for the summer?
This summer has already been the busiest of my life! I’m planning a wedding, quitting a job, and moving out of state. But when it’s all said and done, I will have more time to focus on my writing and my books.
What age were you when you first discovered reading?
I can’t even remember that far back. My mom said I was always reading something. I was one of those kids that actually completed all of their summer reading and wrote the summary before June was even over.
Went did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?
I always loved writing. I used to write short stories in high school and I’ve kept a journal for years, but it never really culminated into a book until I had this insane dream. I woke up the next day and felt compelled to write it all down before I forgot it… well, the rest is history. I haven’t stopped since!
What was the first story you wrote?
The first story is Seraphina’s story. She was my dream and I’ve poured myself into her story for years now.
How do you build your stories? Do you map it out, or go with the flow?
Oh, I’m a “Pantser.” I have to write ideas down before I forget them. But, when I get stuck on a scene or filling in the blanks I have to draw a little timeline just to focus myself again.
Did you base any of your characters on real life people? Friends/family?
I think each of my characters is touched by someone I know or have seen. The only character that was consciously based off someone is the character Amanda from The Seraphina Series. It’s based off my real life best friend, Miranda. From her personality, to her humor, and even down to the little black coupe she drives.
Did you ever get writers block or lose interest in a story? If so how did you fight it?
ALL THE TIME!! Writers block is my worst enemy. I’ve found that I can’t force it. I have to put it down, whether it’s going for a walk or reading a book then come back to it with a fresh mind.
Last question, if you could meet anyone of your characters, who would it be a why?
Hands down – Seraphina. I’ve been dreaming and writing about her for years, she just seems so real to me. It would be amazing to see my dream come to life.
Thank you for taking with me have a wonderful summer :D
