Blood of the Prophet
Kat Ross
(The Fourth Element #2)
Publication date: September 12th 2016
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Visionary. Alchemist. Savior. Saint.
The Prophet Zarathustra has been called many things. Now he spends his time drawing pictures of weird-looking goats. That’s what happens when you’ve been stuck in a prison cell for two hundred years. But the man who might be mad, and is definitely supposed to be dead, has suddenly become very valuable again…
It’s only been a few weeks since Nazafareen escaped the King’s dungeons with her daēva, Darius. She hoped never to set foot in the empire again, but the search for the Prophet has led them to the ancient city of Karnopolis. They have to find him before Alexander of Macydon burns Persepolae, and Darius’s mother with it. But they’re not the only ones looking.
The necromancer Balthazar has his own plans for the Prophet, and so does the sinister spymaster of the Numerators. As Nazafareen is drawn in to a dangerous game of cat and mouse, her newfound powers take a decidedly dark turn. Only the Prophet understands the secret of her gift, but the price of that knowledge may turn out to be more than Nazafareen is willing to pay…

My Rating: 4 1/5 Stars

This book was a fast ride that had me hooked from started to finish. The wold building was outstanding and something that I’ve haven’t seem in the a lone time. The writing was smooth and structure was amazing.

I loved all the different magical creatures, dark and good. This book has so much, it’s amazing that I was able to keep track of it all, though I did get a little outlanderish around chapter 18. I don’t know if the author was rushing or me being on nights has gone to my head.

This book does have some real darker themes, that makes it all the more real and connect to our own messed up world. It was these moment that made me fall more and more in love with this one of a kind wonder.

Naza, I have a mad girl crush on her. It’s rare in YA world to have a strong female lead that can think for herself. I’ve always found this a strange occurrence,  it’s like we’re stuck on this notion  that in order to sell books the lead needs to fall head over heal in love and be the damsel in destress. We’re not in the dark ages anymore, stupid isn’t cute, smart and strong is.

I highly recommend this book. As I’ve said it’s a fun fast read that will have you hooked. I can’t wait to read the next installment!

Happy Reading
